Kvam

Our jacquard baby blanket is woven in Røros from Norwegian lambswool. We construct the pattern directly through the weave, allowing the colours to reverse across the two sides of the textile. After weaving, the wool is brushed to lift the fibres and create a softer, fuller surface. The smaller format translates the same material, colour and jacquard construction used across our wider throw collection into a wool blanket made for early years.

 

Kvam is designed by Kristine Five Melvær around the structural possibilities of jacquard weaving. Its geometry is shaped by what can be constructed directly through the loom rather than applied to the textile afterwards. The resulting motif brings together references to Norwegian textile tradition and Japanese pattern-making through a shared interest in repetition and structure.
