Kvam

The half-size jacquard throw brings the same woven construction as our full-size wool throws into a smaller, compact format. Woven in Røros from Norwegian lambswool, the jacquard construction uses the pattern through the textile and reverses the colour relationship on its opposite side. Brushing raises the wool fibres after weaving, adding softness and depth to the surface while retaining the definition of the pattern.

 

Kvam is designed by Kristine Five Melvær around the structural possibilities of jacquard weaving. Its geometry is shaped by what can be constructed directly through the loom rather than applied to the textile afterwards. The resulting motif brings together references to Norwegian textile tradition and Japanese pattern-making through a shared interest in repetition and structure.
